I developed Titanium Performance in the spring of 2014, in hopes to help educate clients and the fitness industry in proper strength training through evidence based programming. I am a Certified Personal Trainer with the NSCA as well as S.P.A.R.T.A Level II High Intensity Training certified. I went to the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, graduating with a degree in Kinesiology (Movement Science emphasis) and a minor in business management.
I have gained extensive experience over the years in exercise prescription, rehabilitation programming, preventative programming, nutrition consultation as well as sport specific programming. I have worked with individuals of all ages and different needs. I have worked with elite runners training for the Olympics, professional athletes, first time exercisers, pre-surgery and rehabilitation clients, among others.
I have always been involved in some sort of strength training, whether it was to improve sport performance, alleviate pain from an injury, improve body composition or simply to improve overall health. After graduating from college and realizing how beat up my body felt from the years of playing all sorts of sports, I placed a high priority on exercise. Initially I followed an explosive training regimen, involving power cleans, squats, deadlifts, etc. After a few months, I was getting extremely strong and began posting personal records in my lifts… until the day I heard the loudest “pop” I have ever heard. Initially I didn’t feel any pain but could not move my legs. After hours of laying on the floor, I swallowed my pride and decided something is seriously wrong. I scheduled a doctor’s appointment which led to X-rays and an MRI on my spine. The results scared me, coming from a family with a history of back issues and mine were going to start at age 22.
I began searching for a program that wasn’t the traditional style of training, BUT yielded the same benefits. I was connected with some of the top researchers in the industry who focused on Evidence Based Resistance Training (HIT), a style that focuses on minimizing momentum and continual muscular contraction. I began training on MedX and Nautilus equipment and within weeks my back pain, knee pain, and hip pain was drastically improved. All of my clinical markers improved as well as my strength, size, flexibility and cardiorespiratory efficiency. I was astounded and honestly, relieved that I found a “cure.”
A decade later, I have built a business around thousands of research studies, visited numerous colleagues, attended many conferences and seminars, and most importantly helped thousands of clients live a life with minimal to no pain. I live to help others, the most painful thought to me is that you, a friend or family member are out there living with pain that a properly supervised strength training routine can help improve.
Please remember – the gym is not a place to be injured but rather a place to reduce our risk of injury while improving overall performance.
